We are excited to announce that our annual Deschutes River Cleanup will take place on Saturday, June 28th! River cleanup activities will be coordinated at six different sites on the Deschutes River where volunteers will help pull invasive weeds, remove litter from stream banks, and paddlers and scuba divers will extract debris from the river channel. The six cleanup sites will be: LaPine State Park, Sunriver, Farewell Bend Park, Riverbend Park, 1st Street Trail, and Tumalo State Park. It will be a great day filled with stewardship, smiles, and sweat! Volunteers of all ages are invited to join us and our partners for a rewarding day of river stewardship. Online registration will open here on May 1st!
The Deschutes River Cleanup is an annual opportunity for us to come together to steward the Deschutes River and its riparian areas. Recreation in and around the Deschutes River has led to significant impacts to the health of the river and, in order to keep our river beautiful and protect water quality for fish and wildlife, the Watershed Council coordinates the Deschutes River Cleanup every year. The annual cleanup is made possible thanks to our amazing partners. Thank you to La Pine State Park, Sunriver Chamber of Commerce, Sunriver Owners Association, Leadership Bend, Greater Bend Rotary, SOLV, Central Oregon Diving, Deschutes County Search and Rescue, Tumalo Creek, LUNO, and Confluence Fly Shop!
If you are not able to participate in the cleanup, you can still do your part to take care of our river by making a donation. $20 will buy four pairs of gloves for this year’s cleanup and $100 will buy waders for volunteers to pull debris out of the Deschutes River. Make your contribution today!
